Accommodation Tax Rates

TraxMMS Tax Rates:

Trax has the ability to charge tax rates when an accommodation is being reserved by either a member or a staff member.

*IMPORTANT: The primary tax rate in the accommodation editor is assumed to be a hotel tax or sales tax rate. This tax rate will only apply tax to the accommodation base charge. It does not add taxes to additional occupants, add-ons, pet fees, or membership dues (if enabled).

Adding Tax Rates:

All tax rates can be managed in the system settings by a staff member that has this permission. Tax rates can be managed by following the steps below.

  1. Login to your property/resort dashboard.
  2. On the left-hand menu, click "System Settings" (if you do not see this option, you may not have permission)
  3. In the system settings, is a box titled "Tax Rates", select "+ New Tax Rate" to create a new tax. You can add as many tax rates as desired.

Using Tax Rates:

When creating or editing an accommodation, there are 2 fields titled "Primary Tax" and "Secondary Tax Rate / Surcharge". The primary tax will be your local government required tax rate. This tax rate is applied to the accommodation's calculated base rate. It does not apply to additional occupants, pet fees, or other fees. If your local government requires the tax rate to apply to the entire grand total, use the Secondary Tax field.

The Secondary tax rate can be a sales tax if required, or a surcharge that you may impose on reservations. This tax rate does apply to the entire charge the member is being required to pay for their upcoming stay. This rate does not apply to membership dues.
